Faculty of Paramedical Sciences



Faculty of Paramedical Sciences at Saifai was basically Proposed in February 2006 but its very first Academic Session Commenced in 2012. A Prestigious and the very first of its kind not only in State of Uttar Pradesh but also in India, a much Awaited Faculty of Paramedical Sciences in Government sector finally came into existence as “Paramedical Vigyan Mahavidyalaya” (Faculty of Paramedical Sciences), Saifai (Etawah) in the year 2012 which actually proves the strong visionary foresight of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji. The college has been established as a constituent college of UP RIMSR, Saifai. The decision to add a Faculty of Paramedical Sciences in Saifai was well supported by the fact that there is an acute shortage of paramedical/ allied health professionals in government and private hospitals of the state as well as in country.

The very First Academic Session of the College was commenced in 2012-13 by starting 13 courses in various disciplines of the Paramedical/ Allied Health Sciences. At the Bachelor’s level (4 courses) in Physiotherapy & Medical Laboratory Technology while at the Diploma level (11 courses) in Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Optometry, X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, Cardio. Tech, Blood Transfusion Tech., Dialysis Tech., Operation Theatre Tech. & Emergency and Trauma Care. In academic session 2013-14, two more bachelor’s level courses in Optometry and Radiological Imaging Tech. discipline were introduced. All bachelor courses are affiliated to CSJMU, Kanpur till Batch 2015-16 and with the up gradation of the UPRIMS into UPUMS (Medical Sciences University) from Batch 2016-17 onwards all degree courses are now self affiliated while all diploma courses are running under the State medical faculty, Lucknow. The total intake in various paramedical courses is about 510. The college has already recruited around 26 eminent faculty members at different levels for the various disciplines. And many more faculty members will be joining in the coming months which will further add to the quality of teaching and training imparted.

The college campus is approximately 2 kms away from U.P.U.M.S. and spread into an area of 44 acres of land comprising of an Academic cum Administrative block, Lecture theatre complex, Hostels for the students, Play ground, Green belts and Residential accommodation for the teaching faculty and the college staff.

Academic Block: (Left and Right wing) housing various departments namely Optometry, Physiotherapy, Medical Lab Technology, Radiological Imaging Technology and Other paramedical courses. Each department is having lecture halls, tutorials, libraries, museum, well-equipped laboratories and computer as well as research labs.


Administrative block: Dean/Principal office as well as Administrative, finance & Departmental Offices and faculty rooms.


Lecture Theatre Complex: 6 Air-conditioned lecture theatres.


Hostel Complex: 4 hostels for girls and 5 hostels for the boys which can accommodate a total of around 2000 students.


Residential Complex: The faculty and staff members are residing in the already constructed Type –I, II, III and V quarters.


Many Developments have already taken place including Central library, Guest House and Multi-purpose Hall while many more are lined up for the future years like landscaping of the whole campus, etc.

The college of paramedical sciences will remain a pioneer institution in spreading the quality teaching and training in various disciplines of Allied Health/ Health Care sciences for years ahead.
