Department was started in 2006 with single faculty

Infrastructure:

  • Department has total number of beds 94(40 Male, 30 Female, 20 MDR, 5ICU).
  • Department also has minor O.T for dressing facility, ICD insertion,FNAC and other minor procedures.
  • Department also has PFT laboratory since 2007 along with 6 minute walk test facility.
  • Department also has interventional pulmonology suite having the facility for Video assisted Bronchoscopy since 2008 and Medical Thorocoscopy since 2014.
  • Department also has 20 beded PMDT centre since 2012 for the treatment of MDR and XDR Tuberculosis patients.
  • Department also has Sleep study and Allergy testing facility.
  • Department started DOTS cum DMC facility since November 2006 under RNTCP.
  • Department is running the NTEP effectively which provides diagnosis and treatment of drug sensitive TB patients at DOTS cum DMC centre and simultaneously diagnosis and treatment of drug resistant (MDR/ RR TB & XDR TB) patients done at PMDT centre.

  • Title- Strengthening Mechanism for TB Death Reporting under The National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme(NTEP) and The Registrar General of India under the chairmanship of Dr D. Behera(Padamshri awardee), Professor and Ex-HOD Department of Pulmonary Medicine,PGIMER,Chandigarh.

  • As being vice-chairman of UP STF of NTEP Dr Adesh Kumar is looking after 12 Medical colleges of UP for effective implementation of NTEP services.

  • Study the Clinical and Bacteriological Profile of Community Acquired Pneumonia in patients attending OPD/IPD at UPUMS, Saifai, Etawah (U.P).
  • Determine the prevalence of Osteoporosis and Metabolic syndrome among Female COPD patients at UPUMS, Saifai, Etawah.

  • Study the prevalence of obstructive sleep apnoea in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients at rural tertiary care centre of western U.P.
